S.C.N.I.'s factsheets are developed from good practice examples as well as being designed to meet the needs of community groups.

The following factsheets are available:

Preparation for Fundraising

The key to successful fundraising is 'Good Preparation'. Good preparation involves clarifying aims and objectives and developing a Plan of Action prior to any fundraising. This booklet will give a brief introduction to the preparation required and the various sources of funds that are available.

Local Fundraising Ideas

This factsheet provides ideas to help your group choose the activity best suited to your resources.

Fundraising Strategy         

Forward planning is essential to ensure the smooth running and successful development of any Community Group. This factsheet offers advice and useful tips on the importance of drawing up a fundraising strategy, what this involves and how it should be carried out.

Council Funding             

For any Group that has just been established and constituted, the first port of call should be with the local Council. This factsheet details the types of funding and support which may be available in your local Council area.

Trust Funding                                         

"A large body of money completely surrounded by people who want some" is how a Charitable Trust was once described. This factsheet informs you how best to secure some of the money made available by grant making trusts.

Lottery Grants                                

The Big Lottery Fund is an independent grant making body which has been set up to distribute a share of the money from the National Lottery to charities, benevolent and philanthropic organisations including community groups. S.C.N.I. has developed this factsheet to introduce this particular source of funding and provide some tips on the application process, type of projects supported and  information on who can apply.

Statutory Funding                         

This booklet explains how to go about applying to Government Departments for Statutory Funding. It goes through the process step by step, covering the different stages you will need to complete in order to succeed in obtaining funding.
