Digital Inclusion Services Background to the initiative.... Less than a third of people/tenants have a home computer and only three quarters of those have access to the internet in Northern Ireland. The NIHE saw their challenge as finding a way to improve internet access within communities so that their tenants do not become excluded from the digital era and the opportunities available to them.As part of a major Digital inclusion initiative across Northern Ireland, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Supporting Communities NI, the Department of Finance and Personnel, My Group NI and M.M.C. Consulting worked in partnership to deign and implement a programme of digital inclusion for members of the Housing Community Network. The programme consisted of providing training and ongoing support to groups to establish and maintain their own mini-site free of charge. This began with My Group NI providing formal training to SCNI staff and our designated Digital Inclusion Officer. A comprehensive training programme was then rolled out to groups across Northern Ireland. Our Training.... The digital inclusion training is conducted over a 2 hour period at a venue suitable to the participants and a practical working session is undertaken whereby the groups are given experience in 6 key areas: | - Logging In
- Adding information to the home page
- Building a Page to include text and graphics
- Adding Images to the Gallery Folder
- Creating a link to a document (word, pdf etc.)
- Creating a link to a website

Dissemination of information. Information and advice available via S.C.N.I. website e.g. factsheets/funding enquiries. No tricky web development to setup the mini portals. Flexibility for information to be updated regularly.
After Training.. As part of the training session participants are given a comprehensive guide detailing all of the information covered in the course.
